Glossier Invisible Shield Sunscreen Review

IMG_9707

I don't know about you but I think sunscreen isn't fun. How should I put it? I don't wake up in the morning excited to apply sunscreen (but then again, I don't think anyone does).

I think it has a lot to do with how traditional sunscreens tend to be hard to apply, sticky, leave a white cast and affect my finished makeup. I hate them but I need them.

One sunscreen tackled these stereotypes with the release of the Glossier Inivisble Shield Daily Sunscreen*.

Invisible Shield is unique because of its serum/gel formula. Here are some basic facts before we get started:
  • It retails for $25 (was originally $35 on release,)
  • Can be purchased on Glossier.com.
  • Broad Spectrum SPF 35.
  • 1fl. oz. or 30ml.

I think sunscreen appreciation is heavily lacking in the skincare community. If we can hype up some sunscreen like we do lipsticks think about how much better our skin would be?

My belief is people, in general, don't think using a sunscreen is a necessity and if they do think it is, they stick to drugstore brands they grew up with.

You know brands like Coppertone and Banana Boat. Very recognizable and nostalgic brands.

Another reason is that many sunscreens aren't made for daily use. They tend to be geared to people who are planning to go out into the sun for a long time (ex. the beach).

In my opinion, out of all the Glossier products, I feel like the hype of this product was very low.

Which brings me to the actual review of this product (sorry for the sunscreen ramble). I would like to get straight to the point and say I love this product, I would repurchase it and I recommend it.

The formula is a unique gel/serum that I enjoy and I prefer this formula over any milky or traditional formula.

It has a very fresh tropical scent that is very faint.

I usually use three pumps to cover my entire face and neck.

It blends well and dries into the skin almost instantly. It really is invisible and undetectable on your skin or under makeup.

I think SPF 35 is perfect for everyday use, especially if you are just commuting to work or school and not in the sun for long periods of time.

Glossier Invisible Shield Ingredients:

If anything, the Glossier Invisible Shield Sunscreen has given me hope for a sunscreen revolution!

I also found that Reddit found a dupe of the Glossier Invisible Shield Sunscreen which is a Korean sunscreen called MAKE P:REM Capsule Sun Gel. I have not tried it and, also the price is the same, it just gives you 2x the amount of product.

You can read more about it on Allure.com here.

Other than that, I hope you enjoyed this post and I look forward to writing more.

Happy Tuesday!
